June 22, 2016 Oakland, CA Brady Bate (USF) had five hits for the Neptune Beach Pearl and Nick Brooks (Gonzaga) had three hits, including his fourth home run of the summer, as the Pearl and Legends played 11 innings before their game tonight at Laney College had to be suspended due to a facility time limit with the score 8-8. Also in CCL action today Irvine, CA Aaron Cisneros (UC Riverside) hit a two-out three-run home run in the fourth inning today at Concordia University and, two batters later, Jonah Dean-Hargroves (Jackson State) hit a two-run home run as the Academy Barons beat the Orange County Riptide 7-5 in CCL action. It was the Barons sixth win in a row, a stretch that has vaulted them to the top of the CCL standings with a 9-3 record. Tommy Bell and Jake Ortega (Cal St Bakersfield) each homered for the Riptide who hold a 3-8 record and have lost three straight. See the boxscore/recap here. Santa Barbara, CA The San Luis Obispo Blues and the Santa Barbara Foresters each scored twice in the eighth inning and no time else as their game today at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium had to be suspended because of darkness after 11 innings were completed. Kyle Johnston (Texas) started on the mound for Santa Barbara and allowed only one hit in six innings of work while striking out seven. Matt Walker (UCLA) started for the Blues and pitched seven-plus innings, striking out five, but after the Blues had manufactured a pair of runs in the top of the eighth, Walker allowed a run-scoring triple by Keston Hiura (UC Irvine) and a RBI-single by Hunter Williams (Tulane) before being lifted from the game. The game is scheduled to be resumed prior to the next time the same two teams meet at the same location, that being July 23 at Uyesaka Stadium. See the boxscore/recap here. Featured Image077
