April 9, 2018 - Santa Barbara, CA The Ventura County Pirates have formalized an agreement to play an affiliated schedule against seven of the nine CCL teams for the 2018 summer. The affiliated status guarantees the Pirates a 13-game schedule against some of the best summer collegiate teams in the country, including the Santa Barbara Foresters, San Luis Obispo Blues, Academy Barons, Southern California Catch, Arroyo Seco Saints, Conejo Oaks and Orange County Riptide, and opens the door for the Pirates to seek full membership in the CCL (and a full competitive schedule) in the years to come. The affiliated schedule has some limitations, however, as Ventura County players will not be eligible for consideration in the 2018 Prospect Game or in post-season honors, and the Pirates will not be eligible to compete in the CCL playoffs.
